Book where husband finds out his wife is a monster

I saw this book about 10 years ago in Canada, but don’t have an idea of when it was published. I do know it has a sequel, possibly with a lighthouse on the cover. Basic idea is that a guy finds out his wife is some kind of monster, and I believe it ends with him killing her, which is where the sequel picks up.
