Name of Star Trek short story/novella series

I am trying for the life of me to remember the name of a collection of Star Trek stories I used to own in a single collection.

It revolves around the TOS crew and it is about this planet that just joined the Federation but a rogue planet/star that flies real close to the planet basically destroying the surface and atmosphere. The Federation helps them rebuild their planet but the process takes a really long time, like so long it takes multiple stories from various periods in the TOS timescale. Like I think it starts right before or just as Kirk takes command of the Enterprise and the last story takes place after Kirk's death.

Please help. I am scouring the list of Star Trek stories and books and I cannot find anything about it. I know I used to own a copy of this book. I think it was originally published as an ebook but that has done nothing for my own searches.
