Yellow Fly

What is this evil bug? Why does it keep biting me? How can I persuade it to leave me alone? Bites don’t really hurt initially, but you can feel the poison spread and then it itches like mad for several days. This is in central Florida. Im starting to hate them as much as I do roaches.
