Tension reduction with tubes and tubeless
I've found that with a new wheel I've built the spoke tension is reduced by about 10kgf when tubes are installed and 25kgf when tubeless tyres are installed. I've tried this with the front and rear wheel and different spoke tensions from low to high and the results are pretty consistent.
If my rim has a tension limit of 120kgf and I build to this, then inflate a tubeless tyre the result is that the NDS spokes on the rear wheel loose a lot of tension, too much to use.
I've reasoned that if a standard tube reduces a 120kgf tension by 10kgf to 110kgf then I should be ok building the wheel to 135kgf when a tubeless tyre is installed since it will be running at 110kgf.
If this a reasonable approach?
