How bad is it to not leash jungler as solo laner? (Specifically in high elo)

I have played a ton of top lane and jungle and I’m still confused why people flame me for not giving them a leash.

As a solo laner, if you arrive late to lane just losing one minion means you don’t hit level 2 on the first wave and can lose lane priority. On top of that, often times this means you have to play safe and wait until wave hits your turret which by the time this happens it will make it harder to help your jungler in early fights, in high elo these types of small things can give enemy team an early advantage which they can snowball into a morale win and early surrender.

As a jungler I have seen both sides of this scenarios. I see it every game where solo laner arrived just a tad late and then give up first blood before I even hit level 3. It happens with duo lane as well in that when they hurry back to lane they tend to take the short way back to lane only to be ambushed in tri bush with aggressive supports, which again ends up they have stronger bot lane so first dragon often needs to be given up. The other thing about the leash is that it becomes really easy for enemy team to pinpoint your jungle route due to camp respawns and thus less likely to pull of ganks and increases probability you get counter ganked.

Am I missing something? I just don’t see how this benefits in the long run aside from having a healthier first clear. I play with chat disabled so I always wondered what is their reasoning for flaming me for this, I just assume they are mad since they spam ping me for rest of game.
