Craftsynth 2.0: tips?

I just bought a Craftsynth 2.0 to use with my EWI USB. I'm very new to synthesizers and am trying to use this as my introduction into sound design. I feel like it's really easy to make kind of reedy sounds with the synth, but I'm having trouble making sounds that are more flutey, icy, brassy, or stringy. Does anyone have any advice for making sounds with varying timbre? What about other tips in general that have made it easier to use the synth with a wind controller?
