Tail, Ears and A Promise [Short Lorepost/GS-Adjacent]
/uw Not usually one for loreposting, never been, but I feel like I should get this out there for continuity.
/rw Cauda didn’t move. His eyes rested on the empty battlefield. His smile unchanged, he threw up his arms and stretched, letting out a great big yawn.
”Well, that’s that. Good show everyone, good show.”
”Master Cauda?”
He turned to look over his shoulder. Standing behind him was a stocky bald man with a long, brown beard, wearing a simple muddy garb.
”Oh, you must be one of the local earth spirits. Hi! Sorry for all the trouble.”
The spirit placed his palms together before bowing in reverence: a common gesture and a sign of respect among their kind.
”Master, this small spirit would not dare blame any of you for what happened. He understands, better than anyone, the realities of this last battle.”
”Oh yeah?”
”Of course.”
Staring at the spirit in silence, Cauda rubbed his chin. A bright grin took over.
”You’re a good kid.”
”Your servant is unworthy of such praise. More importantly, what will you do now?”
”Well, I hate to admit it, but I made my bed and now I gotta lie in it. I’ll go see Master Monkey and Sacrum, but before that, there’s something I gotta do first. As much as I’d like to, I don’t know for sure if I’ll be able to return to the Valley of Aetherial Wind…so before I do anything else, I need to fulfill my promise to my sisters. And that’s where you come in.”
”Master?”
Cauda opened his hand. A tied parcel appeared as a bright flame on his palm. He tossed it over to the spirit, who caught it in his arms.
”I said they could have burgers later, so there you go. Give this to the Aures and tell them that I love them very much, I’m sorry I couldn’t deliver it myself and that I’m busy right now, but I’ll come to see them as soon as I can. Got all that?”
The spirit gave another reverent bow.
”It will be done to your specifications, Master Cauda.”
”Good, good. Great. Thanks.”
He turned to face the battlefield once more.
”I guess this means I’m on the clock again...”
