Moving a large CNC machine
I have a problem and I was hoping someone could come up with a clever solution.
I’m moving about 3 hours away, and we’ve hired a semi trailer to move our stuff. I have a CNC machine on a set of wheeled legs. The total width of the legs is 28”. The ramp I’ll have to get it onto the truck is 24” wide. The machine and legs total are over 300lbs, and the semi trailer floor is 4’ above the ground. How can I get this thing up that ramp without causing injury to us or the CNC?
The best thing I’ve been able to come up with is to take some 3/4” plywood, attach some casters to the bottom at no more than 24” apart, put the CNC on the plywood base, strap it down, and wheel the whole thing up. My only concern is that the plywood wouldn’t be able to hold the weight of the machine at 4 small points (the existing wheels).
Any ideas? I don’t personally know anyone with a forklift, unfortunately.
