Jet warranty question

I found a Craigslist post about a Jet 1221 lathe that someone bought new but has not even opened. After a few emails back and forth it seems to be legit and would be a good deal on a new machine for me.

I am just hesitant now due to warranty issues. It’s a good chunk of change and I wouldn’t have any recourse through the point of purchase should a problem arise with the lathe. No extra warranty was purchased with the with it, but I do see that Jet offers limited warranty if you register machines with them. Looking at the form to fill out with them, it seems I’d still be able to register for that warranty.

Has anyone had a similar situation that worked out one way or another?
