Slab table base question
I’m building an extra large slab dining/conference table and am slightly second guessing the table base dimensions.
I know it’s not entirely a “woodworking”question but thought this may be the best place for it.
The live edge table dimensions will be roughly 46” x 126” x 2.5” and supported by 4 C channels evenly spaced.
My plan B for the metal table legs (30”w x 5-7” thick) would be to inset them about 1/3 the length of the table, leaving roughly 42” overhang. Plan A was to inset them 1/4 of the length, leaving a 31.5” overhang but this is right where the C-channels are.
Solely from a structural point of view, is this too much of an overhang? What would be a solid plan C?
