I think my coworker is trying to get me in trouble, advice helpful.

I'll give a little background first; I \[F23\] started a new job 2 months ago. Overall, the job is very chill and pays a few hundred above minimum wage (highest pay I've had so far), so I'd very much like to stay here if possible. There are 5 of us at my location, the manager (who is new to managing, having been promoted a couple of months before I started) and 4 employees, working in shifts of 2. The manager and my usual shift coworker have both been here for years, one woman who started about 8 months ago, and one who started just 2 months before I did, let's call her Janet \[Flate-40s\].

When I first started, I thought everything was going swimmingly; the company trained us new hires for a full week, so I needed very little help and I *thought* I was getting along great with everyone.

Then my boss pulled me into the office about 2 weeks in to talk to me. He told me someone on staff had complained about me, saying I was acting uncooperative, competitive, rude and that this being a small team, we need to make sure to be able to work together, because if not someone might not be getting a full-time contract, because he thinks coworkers butting heads all the time would be bad for overall work (generally the way new jobs work in my country is first a 3-month contract, then a longer 6-12 month one, then they are required to give you a full-time, no end date contract - I am 2 months into my first 3-month one, Janet had recently gotten her 6-month one).

Now, he gave no names as to who complained, but with the things he mentioned they said, it wasn't hard to put together it had been Janet. Which was a massive shock to me, because I thought we had gotten along great the handful of days we'd worked together. She always acted very happy and friendly whenever we were on shift together. I agreed to act more friendly and professional and accept advice when coworkers offered, and got back to work. I thought that would be the end of that.

Then a little over a month in, I get called over by the boss again and am told to go "talk it out" with Janet in the back. So I can only assume she went to him with more complaints, at least a second time. And in that time she had never said anything to me up until now, when the boss more or less forced her to talk to me directly.

During the talk, she said she felt from the beginning that I've been rude and too impolite. That she felt I needed to be more respectful towards her and that if her kids my age acted like that she'd ground them. I told her I was sorry and that I had not intended to, that I will be more polite and professional from now on. She told me that no, she *doesn't* want me to be more professional, she wants coworkers she can chat and joke around enough, then cited the times she felt I was acting badly, and pointed out every time I'd tried to be chill and joke around with her. At this point, I was extremely confused on what exactly she wanted from me, but we agreed to be friendly and work together for the team.

Since then, the boss had been, not cold, but much less talkative and friendly towards me compared to the other 3. He only really talks to me when he needs me to do something or to tell me I did something wrong and to fix it. Comparatively, he chats and jokes around with the others and is overall warmer towards them. I'm not certain if this is because they worked together as coworkers before his promotion, or if I'm just imagining it because I've felt so blindsided by the surprise dislike from Janet.

And every once in a while I'll get pulled aside by the boss about me doing something wrong, almost always something to do with Janet. Things like not doing the inventory count correctly, that she noticed that I could have sworn I had done right, little things like that.

The most recent one was a couple of days ago, because of my usual coworker being on vacation I was on closing shift with her. I had to leave 5 minutes early at closing to catch my ride home, otherwise I'd be walking home for an hour at night. I asked both Janet and boss if this was fine and they both gave the okay. Closing by yourself at my work doesn't take long for 1 person to do, and I made sure almost everything was done before I left. The only 2 things left for her to do was print out 1 paper and take the trash down (which Janet said she'd do an hour before but forgot, that I didn't have time to because I'd miss my ride). It should have taken 5-8 minutes max to do both of this and leave.

Well, I got told off the next day by my boss that Janet had to stay over 20 minutes after her shift ended because she had so much left to do, didn't have time to take out the trash so morning shift had to do it and that that is unacceptable, and I will not be able to leave early anymore. I'm sorry, I can manage to do the full close by myself and leave on time or 2-3min after, but she somehow stayed way later after most of the closing work already being done?

I am trying so hard to act civil and professional, but at this point she is making it very hard. I've considered going above both their heads and lodging a complaint with the bosses boss or HR, but since she just got a long contract and mine ends in about a month around the time summer vacations will be over, I'm afraid the company will just take the easy way out and let me go to keep the peace, or them both knowing I lodged a complaint making it worse for me. Especially since I know now for a fact she goes to the boss with complaints of my actions or work at least semi regularly, so any complaints about her at this point will likely just seem like petty retaliation.
