Employee Compensation vs Company Profit

Did you notice that your salary as a rank-and-file employee gets more and more decoupled from the profits of your company?

Recently, we were told even though the company makes historically record profits we should not expect our salary or bonus wil be higher than usual. Only the top 10% will get something extra, the middle will get as usual, bottom will get little or zero to manage them out.

It looks like being just a rank-and-file employee becomes like professional sports in terms of competition, just to stay on the team.
