Don't forget your fats

On cuts I have pretty much prioritized protein over all else. As you should, I guess. But this was coming at the expense of fat, since that was the easiest place to trim off calories. Egg whites over whole eggs, fat-free yogurt and cheese and milk over full-fat, super lean meats over normal, and so on. I felt hesitant to add anything with more than a little fat to my meals because it was more calories for less food, so I didn't want to end up still feeling hungry after my meal.

The only macro I track is protein but for a week or two I tracked my fat just to see and I was quite a bit below the recommended amount. So since then I've started focusing on getting more fat in, kind of like how some focus on getting in their protein. Protein is easy for me because I habitually eat yogurt, cottage cheese, chicken, etc. but I've started doing things like adding a few nuts to my yogurt bowls or using more whole eggs to make sure I get to at least a decent number of fat grams per day.

Dunno if it's placebo but in these weeks, I have seen some improvement in the listed drawbacks of not getting enough fats, e.g. I am a little less mentally brain-fogged during the day. But also I don't feel any hungrier than I did with less fat in my diet (and I've also been losing weight faster than in the previous weeks with my calorie intake being about the same, but that's probably because of other factors). So don't forget to get in your fats.
