Implications of certain setting concepts

A thought that occurred to me, but how often have you made a realization of what certain ideas and concepts would mean in setting? For instance, I've made it that most powers and abilities require skin to skin contact for them to work and very few powers can actually work at a distance. This is something that is generally known to the general populace and thus, people wear clothing that covers a good portion of their body and are extremely weary of people touching them that they don't know or don't trust.

This sort of thing works out in a way since it's sci-fi aesthetics and trappings work in its favor and, incidentally, the aspect of this social paradigm can make for interesting story ideas.
