What important relic or piece of clothing is worn not how you usually would in reality, for cultural reasons?
Basically the question, clothing or relics worn in an unusual, to us, manner.
For example, an idea I came up with experimenting with redesigning the Nazgul a while back.
The Kings Collar: an enchanted crown, as the name goes, in the Kingdom of the Sun, rulers are required BY LAW to wear this, it's crown, however, it doesn't go on the head, it's secured, during official royal business to the monarchs neck, like a shackle, points up. The crown itself has an enchantment that means the monarch can ONLY make royal decisions whilst wearing said collar, and that having it points up, means when they nod, they feel the sting of the points, to remind them of the responsibility of their agreement.
This came about due to tyranny, and the last Tyrant Queen was made to wear her crown like this to her trial and execution.
It's led to the reign of the "Scarchin Monarchs" as other countries call them, lesser versions are even used by important people, as well as anyone who has he monarch's ear, because obviously the enchantment only effects the monarch, not those who claim to speak for them.
