Watching the shadeset from the outskirts of the first resettlement on Venus
**ELEGY OF SOL |** tl;dr - in the chaotic and miserable 26th century, humanity had spread across the solar system and to a few nearby star systems. A massive generation ship was sent to start terraforming/colonizing the Epsilon Eridani system. Shortly after it left, the Solar System devolved into war, all contact was lost with the interstellar colonies, and the generation ship broke down in the outermost edges of the Oort Cloud.
A thousand-ish years after that, they finally managed to get back to the Inner Solar System and start rediscovering and resettling the mass grave humanity used to call home.

As of 298 IA (Inheritor Age), approximately 3800 CE, Venus is mostly terraformed, covered almost completely in jungles, rainforests, wetlands, and lots and lots of mountains. There are still immense volcanos and tons of tectonic activity, of course, but the southernmost continent of Eanna is considerably more stable than the majority of the planet (but even so, all construction is design to withstand any and all venusquakes, ashfalls, tsunamis, rainstorms, etc.).
There is a pair of orbiting sunshades that provide temporary relief from the near-endless days and nights, bringing shade twice a day and light twice a night (a "day/night" is a standard 24-hour period). Another benefit of having the resettlements so far to the south (approximately 62°S), is the sun hugging the horizon and disappearing behind the Maxwell Montes for extended periods of time.
But don't fret! While a lot of that sounds negative, this turquoise gem of planet has a lot to offer to the more adventerous type! From the wide golden beaches of Inanna, to the winding cliffside drives around Aphrodite, to the incredible coral reef diving near Coatlicue, to the rugged hiking trails around Parvati. The entire massive island of Bixia has a lot to do and see, and the ever-growing population (nearly at a million souls and catching up to Mars!) is a testament to how great Venus is.
This picture was made with paint dot net with a mouse and keyboard. I'm currently working on Earth, which will be a little different than Venus and Mars.
