Magic DOES need a buff. If you expect me to spend 3 seconds charging a stationary attack it shouldn’t be a wet noodle.

So I’m a tier four fire mage, I’m all in on magic. Maybe 60 str. Transformation is awesome. Magic itself which I REALLY want to like, is just too weak and I mean I’m trying here, devs.

I’m not asking for a “press button to win” thing.

But like I took on the old camp castle guards, and having played the class this long and really wanting to like it… Ice block does nada and freezes after three hits. Fireball is a three second anime attack with less damage than a tier two one handed three hit combo, storm fist does a bit of damage, ball lightning is cool but the damage means very little to me. Rain of fire kind of blows but it’s situationally useful against a skeleton mage and friends (but I don’t think it killed a single skeleton).

Sleep is actually useful if you get the first move, except sometimes they stand right up, still under the green sleep effect, and proceed to beat your ass. Wind fist, because of how swapping works and how fast things get up is essentially a heavy blunt attack with extra steps.

Telekinesis allows me to take people’s punches which is cool but they notice and try to murder me each time.

And so much of it makes you stand still.

I mean hell, double the mana cost if you have to, but here I am as a mage, fighting a troll, and aside from the occasional ball lighting, I’m using my broadsword because it outdamages every spell I have.

The issue with magic in gothic at this moment is you have to inconvenience yourself to use it, but the payoff is… not the best.

I mean shit, make the robes boost damage. They’re already inferior to shadow armour, why not make basic robes boost 2nd circle and higher runes by 30%, and master robes 50%?

Or make it scale with mana or something, the more you have when you cast the bigger the oomph.

Anything devs. Magic is a BIG investment in this game, let it at least be decent. My broadsword shouldn’t be this much better than my fireball.
