Seasonal Servers

(Sorry for the wall of text but I feel like rambling my thoughts here and hope that someone will discuss this with me as I can't stop thinking about it...)

I would love to see Blizzard take GGGs structure of seasonal leagues and implement it into seasonal servers, yes Diablo has seasonals but GGG has mastered it by really altering their game for each season to keep it fresh and alive. They are both great games so let's not get into which one is the most fun to play, that is just a matter of taste. We are all playing WoW Classic right now and enjoying the nostalgia, but we can also see the apparent quality of life improvements that can be done, instant keychain, guild banks, collection tab for those that want to collect pets, mounts or toys. Yes, there is great value in all the hassle also existing as it was back then, but we are seeing how it creates issues such as the intensity of WPvP ruining people's ability to level at a higher level or it taking 20min extra to get to a dungeon.

I would love to see another server release of classic, and that time it will be "Vanilla Enhanced" stuff that is just an obvious improvement taken from retail and implemented right away. And I see no reason why an MMORPG should not adopt the seasonal iterations method as the whole hack and slash genre, it gives the game new life and finally solves the huge issue Blizzard has had all this time with their content becoming obsolete to never be relevant again.

Their problem with trying to cater to both the hardcore scene that is done with new raiding content in 2 months and the more casual side that would like at least 4 months to experience it all. Servers that exist at different expansions will give the most invested players always something to do even if they are "done" with retail until the next raid tier.

The people that missed out of a specific stage of the game in retail, such as the classic experience so many are having for the first time right now, will have the possibility to experience it when a seasonal server containing it shows up. How many friends has been wanting to join you but said that they feel like they have missed the boat? Have we not all once thought of diving into WoW after a hiatus just to notice that the current expansion is in its final phase and decide to just wait for the next release instead, even with that release being 6 months away... As the WoW classic server is now, most people's favorite expansion is still years away, WotLK, but is there any reason not to release a server in about a year that in fact starts off from the WotLK era with people maybe even starting with a premade character from TBC?

With new servers starting over from different eras, they could even spice it up by opening up quirky servers that will only exist for a period of time, introducing challenge and reward systems that can be carried over to any other server to show who dominated in that specific server. A completely unique transmog set for the guys that killed Illidan in a challenge server where the level cap was locked to 60, that only existed for 2 months (exp gain boosted ofc to compensate). Or a server with all the content that currently exists scaled down to exist at the same level, bringing a mayhem of 44 different raids being relevant at the same time, maybe they rotate with 3 being open at a time on a weekly basis keeping the players on their toes on in both tactics and on how to best gear they character?!

With this, years of hard work from the developers will be able to stay fresh forever and even give them reason to improve or maybe even add more content to the lower level, why not release a new raid for the classic era? I can only see possibilities with this new way of looking at MMORPGs, not as just one story being told once, but a world anyone has the ability can experience in full no matter who you are.

If you read all of this, thank you, I would love to hear your thoughts!
