Do you craft the plot first or characters first?
I'm new to trying to write short stories instead of just little scenes or character conversations. I love to write characters and dialogue but I haven't tried writing anything that's heavily plot based. Essentially, I have created a collection of fun characters and character dynamics and I don't really know what to do with them.
I don't want to take on an epic project of writing a book, I just want to experiment with something super short. I would really appreciate advice on how to build plot around characters, or if I should work the other way around and try to skeleton a plot and then place characters inside it?
Also if anyone has any recommendations for heavily plot driven short stories I would love to hear them.
Thanks!
