What are people's experiences with modern oval chainrings?

I'm thinking of trying an oval chainring as any slight improvement in comfort or efficiency on my old body would be welcome. I'm not expecting miracles but it's worth a try. There are some pretty cheap ones online (Snail, Deckas etc).

Who uses an oval chainring and what are your experieces?
