How much internet to get the most out of an xbox one?

The kiddo has asked for an xbox one for his birthday. We only get about 5 mbs down, due to being in a total area. The internet isn't going to change any time soon. Do we have enough internet for him to enjoy the system or are most/all of the games online or require online things? Thanks.
