how can I fix lag and poor registration on Xcloud?

I'm streaming on my laptop. I've been having this issue for a long time now, whenever I play a shooter game like gears of war the shots take awhile to register. Sometimes I find myself lagging really bad and other times it's a little choppy. It's really bothering and some games become unplayable for me. Is there a way I can fix this issue?
