Copyright Claim for Spotify Upload

I have a friend who makes music on youtube, usually remix's with other sources but makes the tracks himself. He wasn't really keen on uploading it onto spotfiy at the time so he kept on youtube solely. Someone with the same name as him uploaded a song of his to spotify and his song got copyright claimed on youtube. Is his best bet just to contact spotify support and youtube support to resolve both areas? He and I know very little when it comes to copyright and copyright protection. Thank you for any help.
