The Self.

There is a self, but it's not what we think it is.

.

.

.

All this bullshit we all talk here on r/zen.. Its got naff all to do with much at all..

Juat a load of rammel..

.

.

.

I was sat here in a nice quiet layby having my snap, watching the birds hop about in the fields next to me.. And I got thinking about the self and what it is.. And that maybe this self that we can observe, isn't the real self..

Didn't someone say something about riding a donkey looking for a donkey..

.

#You say it is certainly a tremendous sickness to mount a donkey and then go looking for the donkey. I tell you that one need not find a spiritually sharp person to recognize this right away and get rid of the sickness of seeking, so the mad mind stops.

The donkey exerpt is from Foyan..

I thought it was, but I wasn't sure..

Here is the full case, excerpt or whatever you want to call it..

Anyway, this donkey... This is Foyans analogy for the self or mind..

It has just occurred to me that this search of seeing the self nature is bollox.. However maybe we all need to try the search or to ask a few questions in order to see the futility of the search.

I think that this may be the reason that we see people here on this reddit, who are prolific posters, then just fall off the face of the earth.. They have realised something and have truly given up the search instead of just making up concepts about not searching..

.

.

Everyone who is here, at r/zen is searching for something.. And to say that you are not searching while still searching is one of the illnesses that Foyan speaks of, Mounting the donkey and refusing to admit that you are even on a donkey

.

.

Maybe some are here because they feel they have something to teach others or something to share..

I think I definitely need some more quietude in my life.. The ability to actually think clearly and see the woods for the trees is sometimes way easier with a little time out and a bit of peace and quiet.

.

.

Its not called, being by yourself, for nothing..
